Lewisburg Downtown Partnership
The Lewisburg Downtown Partnership is a not-for profit corporation organized for the purpose of bringing together diverse community interests and resources to promote the economic vitality, architectural heritage, and cultural vibrancy of the downtown commercial district for the benefit of the greater Lewisburg area.
In 1999, 13 retail vacancies existed in downtown Lewisburg. A task force of local partners-the Borough of Lewisburg, Bucknell University, and downtown business owners-formed out of concern over downtown’s health. In community meetings the task force held that year, residents overwhelmingly identified the need to form cooperative relationships between the university, the borough and the community as the number one challenge facing downtown. Filling the vacancies and creating a unified marketing campaign were in second and third place. That task force evolved by 2000 into a motivated and energetic board of directors, The Lewisburg Downtown Partnership. The new organization encouraged the Borough Council to successfully apply for a Main Street designation and hired a full-time Main Street manager in 2001.
Today, the LDP continues to support positive change through community partnerships. Community stakeholders continue to meet regularly to focus energy and resources on downtown Lewisburg. Even in the midst of a an economic downturn, downtown Lewisburg continues to gain vibrancy.

- The Ambassador Program-LDP volunteers visit downtown businesses several times a year to share information and receive input

Current strategic initiatives for the LDP include:
- A new website that will promote a beautiful and vibrant Lewisburg, showcasing it as a cultural, social and economic hub.
- A proactive approach to business recruitment and retention for the downtown.
- The creation of a downtown regional economic consortium and partnering with related regional entities for the benefit of the greater Lewisburg area.
- Developing events and collaborative marketing efforts that enhance the cultural vibrancy of downtown.
