Come to downtown Lewisburg on Friday, July 16, 2010, from 5:30 to 7:30 for the Lewisburg Arts Councils annual Sidewalk Chalk Festival. Rain date is July 23. Registration is free and starts at 5:30 pm in front of Brushstrokes, 340 Market St. (corner of 4th and Market Sts.). Bring your own chalk, or use some that will be provided. All entrants will be placed into one of two categories for judging: under 13, or 13 and over. There will be prizes awarded to three winners in each category. All kids under the age of 13 will receive a coupon for ice cream from local businesses. "Sounds Like Friday", music by Eric Sundberg, will be hosted by the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership. New this year will be theatrical face painting and balloon art by "In Come the Clowns" of Lewisburg. They are also hosted by the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership. This years featured artist is Carrie Sterling of Mifflinburg. Carrie is a fine arts major at the Art Institute of Boston. She works in watercolor and mixed media. She also attended the local Top Floor Studio for several years. She has loved to draw in chalk her entire life. She participated in the first five Sidewalk Chalk Festivals.
