Lewisburg Area Recreation Authority

LARA is a not-for-profit organization that offers a wide variety of recreation options to the greater Lewisburg area. It operates the Lewisburg Recreation Park on St. Mary’s Street, just west of Route 15, which includes a world-class skate park, rock climb, community pool, picnic pavilion and outdoor skating rink (weather permitting). Nature provided the meandering stream and the ducks. The skate park and rock climb were donated to the community by one of its major employers, Playworld Systems, Inc.
LARA also operates a full schedule of recreational classes from gymnastics to film production, hosts recreational team sports, organizes an annual Triathlon in September for kids and adults and the annual Lewisburg Lights 5K, an race through historic downtown Lewisburg at dusk in September. The organization is managing an exciting rail trail project that will link Mifflinburg to Lewisburg and eventually to the Susquehanna River.
