Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau

Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau

The Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau (SRVVB) is one of 48 official Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) in Pennsylvania.

SRVVB represents Snyder, Union, and Northumberland Counties in Central Pennsylvania.

SRVVB’s Mission

The Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau is a membership organization that stimulates economic development by promoting the Susquehanna River Valley as a desirable tourist destination. The Visitors Bureau provides information and services to its members, visitors and area residents; advances the image of hospitality in the region; facilitates the development of tourism resources and educates business leaders and members.

A Community Resource

Through the website www.VisitCentralPA.org, Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr, the SRVVB provides timely and accurate information to visitors and residents alike.

The website and social media channels provide themed road trip ideas, a robust calendar of events for the tri-county region, seasonal images, and information about the great outdoors, downtowns, lodging and dining, history and heritage, arts and cultural treasures, and much more.

The website also provides maps, brochures, and an Official Guide to the region, all of which are downloadable and printable.

Locals and visitors alike enjoy receiving “This Week in the SRV” via email each Wednesday morning which details happenings every 10 days, as well as a quarterly e-newsletter filled with seasonal information, images and festivals.

The SRVVB also provides in-depth information for people planning special events in the region. The Event Planning section of the website features unique venues, hotel/restaurant/conference facilities, and event service providers. The SRVVB also provides bulk copies of brochures and maps for out-of-town guests.

In addition, the SRVVB provides “Welcome Packets” for guests to the region who may be attending meetings, conferences, special events, reunions or weddings. These packets can be mailed in advance or available on their arrival in the Susquehanna River Valley.

The Visitors Bureau publishes a monthly “Backyard Tourist” column that is printed in the Standard Journal and News Item the first Friday of every month. View columns and news releases here.

Need a speaker for your next meeting or event? In 2011, the Bureau will create a regional Speakers’ Bureau identifying local experts who can speak on a variety of topics that will educate, entertain and enhance your organization’s next meeting.

HR Recruitment and Retention

Visitors Bureau staff are more than happy to meet with your existing staff, new hires or HR Department to educate everyone about all the wonderful things to do in our region. Often a challenge in recruiting employees — or with new employees — is the misperception that there is nothing to do in our section of rural Pennsylvania. Though we are located in a rural environment, there are plentiful things to do and enjoy – we guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised!
