I owned the Bull Run Inn until a few years ago, when I sold it. My dad, Russ, opened the Bull Run Inn in January of 1986 and I worked there with my dad until he retired. There’s lots of stories from that place, but one of my favorites is about a guy who contacted me because he wanted to buy a shelf. It was after we remodeled Bull Run Inn in 1998/1999. Before we remodeled, there was a shelf in the hallway that led back to the bathrooms. A while after, a guy called me to ask if I still had the shelf that had been in that hallway and could he buy it. I said I thought I did, but it was a strange thing for him to want. He told me that years ago he was leaning on that shelf waiting to use the bathroom when the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his life came out of the women’s room and smiled at him. They dated, and she was now his wife. I did have the shelf and I gave it to him, because it meant more to him than it ever would to me.
