Presenting 1st-Ever Impact on Market St. Award

Lewisburg Downtown Partnership Celebrates Community Impact at Third Annual Soiree

The Lewisburg Downtown Partnership (LDP) celebrated the people whose energy, service, and commitment continue to shape Downtown Lewisburg during its third annual Soiree at the Campus Theatre.

The evening included the presentation of the first-ever Impact on Market Street Award to Elizabeth’s An American Bistro.

John Furia accepted the award on behalf of Elizabeth’s alongside Executive Chef Melissa Gelnett, who worked closely with Liz Furia as her sous chef before becoming executive chef.

The award recognizes an individual, business, organization, or partnership whose commitment, generosity, investment, and community spirit have made a meaningful and lasting impact on Downtown Lewisburg.

Liz Furia’s impact helped set the standard for what the award is intended to recognize. Through Elizabeth’s, she created a destination, supported the downtown community, and demonstrated how one business owner’s energy and generosity can extend far beyond the walls of a single business.

The presentation was one of the most emotional moments of the evening. As John and Melissa accepted the award, the audience rose in a standing ovation, with hardly a dry eye in the theatre.

LDP also recognized Tommy Possinger for his extraordinary volunteer service. Tommy serves as an LDP Ambassador, helping strengthen communication between LDP and downtown merchants while continually bringing new ideas for engaging residents and visitors with downtown businesses and events.

He was also recognized for being selected as a PA Humanities Window Keeper, a statewide honor celebrating Pennsylvanians whose everyday actions strengthen civic life and community connection.

Ellen Ruby was honored for more than 15 years of service to LDP in a variety of roles, including many years as Executive Director. During her leadership, Ruby helped guide downtown development, collaboration, business support, the creation of the Community Partnerships building at 328 Market Street, and Lewisburg’s successful Mainstreet Matters - Mainstreet Designation. She continues to serve LDP today as Director of Finance.

Together, the evening’s recognitions reflected a shared theme: Downtown Lewisburg is strengthened by people who invest their time, ideas, talent, and care in the community around them.

A thriving downtown doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because a community shows up.
