Construction on Market Street
7/12/23 - Lewisburg Borough Hufnagle Park Event Venue Project Market Street Construction Activities to Begin
Activities associated with the Market Street Loading/Unloading Area for the Hufnagle Park Event Venue Project are beginning. Today (Wednesday, July 12, 2023) Lewisburg Borough will place “No Parking” bags on the parking meters on both the north and south sides of Market Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street. Any vehicles parked in these spaces as of 6:00 am on Thursday morning will be ticketed and towed by the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department.
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, the contractor will place “Road Work Ahead” signs on Market Street at various locations. The contractor will reline Market Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street to reroute westbound traffic into the former parking lane on the north side of the street and reroute eastbound traffic into the former westbound lane. The shifting of traffic to the north will create a safer construction area for the workers, but it will (at least temporarily) eliminate all parking on Market Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street. After the construction is complete, parking spaces will be re-established on the north side of Market Street. The former parking spaces on the south side of Market Street will be the new Loading/Unloading Zone.
On Monday, July 17, 2023, construction activities associated with the new Loading/Unloading Zone will begin. The contractor will close the sidewalks on the south side of Market Street between Sixth Street and the entrance to the municipal parking lot. Signage will be placed to direct pedestrians to alternate routes to avoid the construction area. Construction is expected to last at least five (5) weeks. We ask for everyone’s patience as this phase of the construction project progresses. This phase of work is likely the most disruptive to businesses, residents, pedestrians, and drivers.
