Lewisburg Business Roundtable — September 21, 2026
Attendees: LDP staff, volunteers and board members; downtown business and property owners; Lewisburg Borough; Bucknell SBDC; representatives from Cat Café, Tastecraft, Black Dog Jewelers, and other local businesses.
Updates & Discussion
- Miracle on Market Street: Planning is underway for this year’s event.
- A Lewisburg Victorian Nutcracker: The 9th annual production will be held Saturday, December 12, 2026, with performances at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Discussion prompted some neat brainstorming between Strictly Ballet Arts and the Campus Theatre.
- LDP Annual Soiree: Brief recap of the recent annual event.
- Business Improvement Grant: One grant remains available, providing up to $5,000 for eligible downtown business improvements.
- Bucknell Family Weekend: Businesses reported a busy weekend downtown during Bucknell Family Weekend.
- Cat Café: Promoting its “Show Us Your Kitties” event on September 24 and seeking a volunteer treasurer for the nonprofit.
- Lewisburg Borough: Shannon shared an update on work toward an extension of the rail trail down St. John Street and other borough topics.
- Small Business Saturday - the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Businesses, organizations, and community partners can sign up as Neighborhood Champions and receive Shop Small-branded materials/swag to help promote shopping locally.
- Social Media: Coleby shared useful tips and experiences from using social media to promote his businesses. Laura noted that the Campus Theatre recently received nearly 100,000 views on an Instagram/Facebook Reel promoting its film showing of The Odyssey. View the Campus Theatre video

- Bucknell SBDC: Upcoming IN PERSON | The First Step: A Big-Picture Look at Starting a Business, for new and aspiring entrepreneurs, Wednesday, October 7, 5:30–6:30 PM. Additional upcoming programs are available at Bucknell.edu/SBDCevents.
- Sophia, the owner and artist of UuStudio invites the community to a Kids Painting Session at the Heiter Center on 10/17 at 1:30pm - more at their Instagram!
- Participants also discussed ideas and planning for Halloween events downtown!
- Potentially changing the time of this monthly meeting to 10:00am - looking for input!

1 p: Doors open for FREE movie, Campus Theatre: Showing Hotel Transylvania
1:30 p: Kids parade in aisle at Campus Theatre
2 p: Movie Starts
50% Discount for Borough Parking Permits
Borough parking permits for borough lots go on sale beginning December 15 for the following year.
This timing falls between the fall and spring semesters, giving local residents, business owners, and employees an opportunity to purchase permits before students return.
Lewisburg Business owners and employees are eligible for a 50% discount with proof of employment.
